This work reimagines thirteen Grade I endangered plant species designated by the Ministry of Environment of Korea through a nonlinear narrative. Rather than remaining as simple ecological records, the plants are reconstructed as living beings with their own sense of time, perception, and memory.
The narrative unfolds across four sections. The first section presents scenes in which the perspectives of humans and plants become separated, centering on Mannyeonkong, Ammae, and Jukbaekran. The second section follows plants unsettled by human desire and destruction, unfolding the stories of Nado-pungnan, Pungnan, Gwangneung Yogangkkot, and Hallan.
The third section turns away from external observation and focuses on the inner sensations and rhythms of plants, exploring the narratives of Geumjaran, Halla-somdari, and Jeju Gosarisam. The fourth section reveals relationships of interdependence and coexistence through Teolbokjumoneyiran, Tamnaran, and Bijaran.
In the image that closes the book, all thirteen plants meet once again within a multilayered perspective, creating intertwined landscapes of time and memory. Their different narratives and sensations do not remain separate, but overlap and connect, expanding into a larger ecological flow.
Through this work, I hope these endangered plants, which may soon disappear, can be seen not merely as objects of preservation, but as living beings with their own time, senses, and narratives.
